Journalism:
Jo Wiltshire (nee Ellis) started her writing career as a news reporter and later features writer for the Eastern Daily Press in Norwich, before becoming its Deputy Features Editor. During her time at the paper, she was a finalist in the Travelex Travel Writers’ Awards, and was the BT Media Awards Feature Writer of the Year (South East and Eastern Region). She was also the first-ever winner of The Prince’s Trust Local Reporting Award in association with The Newspaper Society.
She then moved on to become a writer and celebrity interviewer for The Mail on Sunday, interviewing high-profile personalities from Heath Ledger and Sir Ian McKellen to Ann Widdecombe and James Nesbitt. It was a wonderfully unpredictable life, a highlight of which was being told while interviewing Ivana Trump on her yacht in Monaco that she wasn’t allowed to use the loo. ‘Journalists must visit the café across the road, darlink!’
After starting a family, Jo became a freelance writer, as well as a lecturer in journalism at Harlow College’s Journalism Centre. Jo now lives in Much Hadham, Hertfordshire with husband Lewis, daughter Evie and son Charlie, and their dog Lily the whippet.
